Pain, increase of body temperature, skin redness and swelling are the main symptoms of the inflammatory process. Inflammation is a well-known contributing factor to many agerelated chronic diseases. Mycotherapy is one strategy to prevent or suppress inflammation.Lentinula edodes (Shiitake) is an edible mushroom grown and marketed for centuries mainly in Asian countries due to its nutritional and medicinal properties [1-2].
