When green SMEs go international: collective pursuit of entrepreneurial opportunities

Résumé

The role of SMEs in the process of sustainable development is well-known, and it reinforces the vision of entrepreneurship as a major approach to addressing environmental problems. Moreover, the issues addressed by green companies are essentially global in scope, but their internationalization has received little attention in the literature. Here, the collective dimension plays a central role, since it can enable SMEs to overcome the barriers inherent in crossing national borders. In this study, we aim to examine how green SMEs can collectively pursue international entrepreneurial opportunities. To respond to this question, a qualitative approach is used, based on an exploratory study among green SMEs. The results from this research will provide a better understanding of how green SMEs apply collaborative practices to enter international markets.
