Apports de la lexicographie réticulaire : le cas de la polysémie relationnelle

Abstract : Lexical Systems are a specific type of lexical networks whose lexicographic construction is based on theoretical and descriptive principles of Explanatory Combinatorial Lexicology. In this paper, we explain why the “reticular” lexicography of Lexical Systems – or other similar models – helps in revealing fundamental linguistic phenomena that dictionary-based lexicography tends to hide behind the textual curtain of its lexical entries. For this, we use the modeling of polysemy as illustration. After a general presentation of the topic under scrutiny, we state the formal characteristics of Lexical Systems. Next, we present the relational modeling of vocables’ polysemy implemented in a given Lexical System: the “French Lexical Network.” To conclude, we examine linguistic phenomena which can be better handled through the recourse to such approach.
